Two years ago, about half of the population of the United States willingly entered a simulation, leaving the other half to fend for themselves with no help. Then, without explanation, the simulation turns off, waking those who left. Now, they must re-assimilate to a world that doesn’t want or need them.

Pierce entered the simulation because of his parent’s status. Before this simulation he was purposeless; wandering, drifting, yet too afraid to go anywhere or change anything. The simulation was the perfect out. Now that he’s back in reality, he tries reconnecting with the one he left behind, Hannah.
